Respected Italian football journalist Mario Sconcerti believes that Inter made two of the four best signings that all Serie A clubs made in the recently concluded Summer transfer window with their signings of Achraf Hakimi and Aruro Vidal from Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.
Inter spent a total of €45 million, including bonuses, to bring the highly rated Hakimi to the club early on in the transfer window whilst they paid nothing whatsoever to bring Vidal to the club from Barcelona but depending on certain conditions being met they could pay them a nominal sum of money.
“Two of the four best players to have arrived went to Juve, their mercato was a 7/10, and the other two went to Inter, whose mercato was a 7.5/10.
“These players are Kulusevski, McKennie and above all Hakimi and Vidal,” he explained in a recent interview, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
Sconcerti then shared his thoughts and feelings on Radja Nainggolan and Christian Eriksen both remaining at the club.
“Eriksen and Nainggolan have remained, that’s a very strong squad. Players now love to be held captive by their salaries.”
In conclusion he discussed what surprised him about Inter’s transfer activity, especially when it came to Inter’s need to sell before they bought reinforcements.
“There were also strong surprises. Inter had to sell Godin to be able to bring Vidal in at no cost while Hakimi was paid for with the sale of Icardi. These were difficulties almost unknown in previous budgets.”
