Stefan de Vrij On New Netherlands Boss Frank de Boer: “Curious How He Works & Trains”

Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has admitted to being curious about working with newly appointed Dutch national team boss Frank de Boer.

de Boer, who had a rather forgettable stint in charge of Inter a few years ago, was recently drafted in to replace Ronald Koeman who vacated the managerial position in favour of becoming the Barcelona manager.

de Boer became the Dutch national team manager on September 23 and had his first match in charge last night as The Netherlands lost 1-0 to Mexico in an international friendly at the Johann Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.

The former Atlanta United manager handed de Vrij a first international appearance in a number of years and de Vrij started an interview with vi.nl by sharing his delight at being back in action for his country.

“I had to miss a few international matches due to injuries, but that doesn’t mean I’m not proud every time I go there,” he said.

He then shared his curiosity about de Boer, who was a central defender like him during his playing days: “Now I’m curious about Frank de Boer, how he works and trains. He was also a central defender, just like Koeman was. You learn something from every coach, so it will be no different under de Boer.”
