Croatian national team manager Zlatko Dalic has explained why Marcelo Brozovic and Ivan Perisic only played limited minutes in yesterday night’s 2-1 international friendly win away to Switzerland.

Brozovic came off of the substitutes bench for the start of the second half with him replacing Milan Badelj whilst Perisic came on for Josip Brekalo for the final 15 minutes of the match that was played at the AFG Arena in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

“Brozovic, Perisic and Modric wanted to take the field for a few minutes, after all Badelj came from Genoa where he did not train for a while due to the situation, so he was not ready for the whole match,” Dalic explained to the gathered media in his post-match press conference.

“Pasalic and Kovacic played league matches three days ago, so we wanted to distribute our forces so as not to overload anyone.”

Brozovic has started just one of Inter’s three games to date this season but has appeared in all three matches with his time on the park totalling 117 minutes. He has been unable to make any goal contributions.

Perisic on the other hand has started two of Inter’s three games but like Brozovic has appeared in all three. He has been on the park for 170 minutes and he has provided one assist.
