Legendary former Inter and Argentine national teamcentral midfielder has reminisced about his time at Inter as part of Gazzetta dello Sport’s ‘Festival dello Sport’ conference ‘Argentino Live’.

“I have experienced many things in Italy, I won there and I had two children in Milan,” he is quoted as saying by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

“When I stopped playing I came back here and Milan is worth more than a Triplete for me. I’ve won a lot, it’s true, but the most important thing for me is to have found a place where I feel at home.”

Cambiasso then went on to speak about some of the main memories from his time at Inter.

“The main memory? The strongest memories are not related to matches, but to training. In Italy I found a home and a second home in Pinetina.

“I have many memories, joys and pains, especially in training but it is clear that the final in Madrid and the semi-final in Barcelona have a special place in the heart.

“I brought what I had, my suitcase had what it had and I always made myself available to the club, out of respect for myself. The mirror always tells you the truth.”

He then went on to speak about two Argentine’s currently starring in Italy in the shape of Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and Inter striker Lautaro Martinez, who has three goals in as many games this season.

“They are both very good, luckily we have them and they are the present and the future of Argentina. Fortunately, both of them are constantly growing.

“There is always something to learn and they are playing well, it’s a pleasure to watch them. Dybala has an important shooting ability.

“Lautaro moves well in the box, a less visible ability but if he always gets there it means that he is always ready. People always say that he just stays there, but he made ten moves before that. He has great intelligence.”

Cambiasso spent a total of ten years on Inter’s books between 2004 and 2014 and he is widely regarded as one of the club’s greatest ever midfielders.

Cambiasso made a total of 431 appearances across all competitions for the club during his spell. He scored 51 goals, provided 34 assists for his teammates and won 13 trophies, including five Serie A titles and one Champions League.
