AC Milan centre back Matteo Gabbia is the latest AC Milan player to have tested positive for COVID-19, AC Milan have confirmed via an official statement posted on their official club website.

The youngster is currently away with the Italian under 21 national team in Iceland and has returned a positive test result. He is the second under 21 player to have tested positive for COVID-19 with Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni also testing positive whilst with the under 21’s.

20-year-old Gabbia is one of three AC Milan players who are currently COVID-19 positive with the other two players being Leo Duarte and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

There are now a combined total of eight players to have tested positive between AC Milan and Inter ahead of next weekend’s Derby della Madonnina between the two clubs at San Siro.

Milan Skriniar, Ionut Andrei Radu, Roberto Gagliardini and Radja Nainggolan are the other Inter players to have tested positive for COVID-19.
