Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà highlighted how Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen could leave the club after only one year in January in an article in Italian newspaper la Gazzetta dello Sport earlier today.

“Mid-October, November and December until the mini break, these will be decisive weeks for his future at Inter.

“If he could play with a certain consistency, well, the partnership would not be in question. If he is on the bench more than he plays by Christmas, the goodbye would become automatic.”

The journalist also highlighted how he could still leave in January, with interest coming from the Premier League and French giants Paris Saint-Germain in the recent transfer window.

German side Hertha Berlin also were interested and tried to sign him, but it was not a convincing offer, the report continues.

It’s up to coach Antonio Conte now and how he chooses to proceed, with the addition of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal possibly helping the Dane find more space further up the pitch.

The 28-year-old Eriksen has struggled to adapt to Conte’s tactical system and disappointed last season in his 26 appearances, where he scored four goals and provided three assists.

The 51-year-old Italian coach is set to start former Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella in Eriksen’s position against AC Milan in the derby next weekend.
