Brescia sporting director Giorgio Perinetti discussed the sale of Sandro Tonali to AC Milan and the reason he did not join Inter in an interview with Italian media outlet Mediagol.it earlier today.

“Sandro had a very important pre-Covid-19 market on an international scale, then it seemed that he and his agent had made a half agreement with Inter.

“Our president understood that the negotiation had to be conducted at another level and therefore he found an agreement directly with Paolo Maldini and in a few days, he sorted everything.”

He highlighted how the deal was important for the club considering their relegation and the speed of the negotiations with the Rossoneri.

“A brilliant operation with benefits for all parties involved, which provides an ideal platform for the definitive explosion of the player, but also an important consideration for Brescia that will be needed for the complex management of this Serie B season.

“The owner Cellino was very good at sensing that he had to change strategy and set up a deal with Milan, very fast and serious, with a deal being reached in a very short time.”

Perinetti commented on the title race this season and the work of Juventus in the transfer market.

“Juventus every year have a very strong team, we have already understood that they will be the absolute favorites in this season again, especially after the Federico Chiesa deal.

“The return of Morata, the confirmation of Dybala and the inclusion of McKennie are really important deals.”

Finally, the Brescia sporting director spoke about Inter’s work in the transfer market and how they’ve worked to close the gap with Juventus.

“Inter I think have come close enough, having improved the squad exponentially, Conte finally has some important spare parts of absolute quality and this in Serie A is fundamental.

“The Nerazzurri have signed players functional to the ideas of their coach but also have achieved their goal of expanding the squad, making it stronger.”

Inter reached an agreement with the 20-year-old Tonali in the Spring of this year, but failed to reach an agreement with Brescia regarding the deal and its cost. The club began to focus on other targets, allowing the Rossoneri to enter the picture and secure the player’s services.

Tonali has joined AC Milan on a loan deal with a buy option attached.
