Although both Inter and AC Milan players have tested positive for COVID-19, next weekend’s Milanese derby is still set to go ahead, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how, should the two teams follow all protocols properly, then the League will authorize the derby to be played, despite the positive cases present in both squads.

AC Milan’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic has recovered, although Matteo Gabbia has now tested positive, the report continues.

Inter’s situation is more complicated, with Ionut Radu, Radja Nainggolan, Roberto Gagliardini, Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni all testing positive for the contagion.

The Nerazzurri are considering keeping their remaining squad players at the training ground in Appiano Gentile for a few days, to reduce the chances of any more infections.

Samir Handanovic, Ashley Young, Andrea Ranocchia, Daniele Padelli and Matteo Darmian have all remained with the team, not joining their respective national teams.

Italy U21 players Andrea Pinamonti and Sandro Tonali will undergo their necessary isolation, and if two negative tests are returned, then will return to Milan early next week.
