President of the Polish football federation and former Juventus midfielder Zbigniew Boniek discussed this season’s title race in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I would say Inter, Napoli and Atalanta, they are the best. Are Juventus behind these three? No, I’m talking about second place. In Italy, the Bianconeri play in another league.”
Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta are currently at the top of the Serie A table after three games, already scoring 13 goals in that time. AC Milan are joint first, with the Nerazzurri in joint third alongside Sassuolo.
Juventus have the chance to match Inter’s seven points with a win over Crotone next weekend. The Bianconeri have taken a risk this season by appointing the inexperienced Andrea Pirlo, who has never held a coaching role before this one.
Antonio Conte is entering his second season as Inter coach and has strengthened the squad in the off-season, with experienced veterans like Arturo Vidal, Aleksandar Kolarov and Matteo Darmian as well as Achraf Hakimi signing for the Milanese club. Inter’s next game is against AC Milan in the derby.
