Legendary former Italian football manager Fabio Capello has shared his belief that Inter are a team who can be constantly competitive due to their squad depth.

Inter tried and ultimately failed to offload all of their unwanted players during the recently closed transfer window but rather than this being a disadvantage for them, Capello in fact believes it could be an advantage to them.

“Inter failed to sell their unwanted players and so they find themselves with two teams. It means they will be constantly competitive,” the 74-year-old explained in a recent interview, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

“Juventus have missed the most significant test, the one with Napoli. They will have the problem of managing many strikers and we have to see if and how soon they will become the Juve of Pirlo. The fight for the title is between these two clubs.”

Capello, who last managed Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning in the 2017/18 season, then went on to add that the five substitutions allowed now is something that really benefits Inter.

“Thanks to the five substitutions, Conte can radically change the team during the match while retaining the same potential.

“The two extra changes help the coaches even during the week. All of them. Players train with greater joy, because they know they have to be ready and they feel involved.

“Inter have already gone to the Europa League final and consequently know what awaits them even if the level of the Champions League from a certain point is much higher.”

Capello had a 30 year managerial career which included stints with AC Milan, Real Madrid and the English national team among others. His best spell in management undoubtedly came in his first spell in charge of AC Milan between 1991 and 1996 during which time he won nine trophies.
