Inter forward Alexis Sanchez has equaled former Nerazzurri striker Ivan Zamorano’s goal record with the Chilean national team, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews earlier today.

The report details how the 31-year-old, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, scored in Chile’s 2-1 loss to Uruguay yesterday, his 44th goal for the Chilean national team.

Former Inter striker Ivan Zamorano previously held the record, having scored 43 goals in 77 appearances for his nation.

Sanchez has made 133 appearances for Chile since his debut in 2006 and has scored in important competitions like his two goals in the World Cup and seven goals in the Copa America.

The player impressed last season whilst on loan with Inter from Manchester United. The former Arsenal star made 32 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing 10 assists in that time. He made his move to Milan permanent this summer, signing a three year contract.
