Former Inter and AC Milan striker Aldo Serena discussed the upcoming Milanese derby between the two teams in an interview with Italian media outlet MilanNews earlier today.

“The assortment of Inter’s squad has some extra qualities, but on the side of Milan, in addition to the excellent work of the club, Pioli was able to have the right words for each player, from the young players who must emerge, to the attitudes of leaders like Ibrahimovic.

“I think Stefano has worked hard with this AC Milan team.”

The Nerazzurri will be missing six players who have tested positive for COVID-19, with the latest absence being 35-year-old English full back Ashley Young.

He joins the list of players who have caught the contagion, which also includes Milan Skriniar, Alessandro Bastoni, Roberto Gagliardini, Ionut Radu and Radja Nainggolan.

The Rossoneri will have 39-year-old Swedish veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the derby, after the player turned in two negative Coronavirus tests.

AC Milan have started this season strongly, winning their first three games against Bologna, Crotone and Spezia. The derby is their first real test of the season.

Inter have also started the season well, beating Fiorentina and Benevento, but suffering a 1-1 draw against a gritty Lazio side.

The Nerazzurri would need four more positive cases of the virus before they could ask for a postponement of the game.
