Inter have officially announced that English left wing back Ashley Young has tested positive for COVID-19 in a statement earlier today.

The 35-year-old, who is contracted to the club until the end of the season, is now in quarantine at his home and will miss next weekend’s derby against AC Milan.

Young has now joined the list of Nerazzurri players currently affected by the contagion, with Milan Skriniar, Alessandro Bastoni, Radja Nainggolan, Ionut Radu and Roberto Gagliardini also testing positive for COVID.

Young has appeared in all of Inter’s games so far this season, for a total of 152 minutes on the pitch. In that time, he has provided one assist, again Benevento last week.

Coach Antonio Conte will now have to re-think his squad choices again, as the former Manchester United full back was expected to start against the Rossoneri next Saturday. Ivan Perisic is now likely to start in the derby.
