Italian journalist Massimo Marianella discussed Inter wing back Achraf Hakimi and Juventus forward Federico Chiesa when speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

He highlighted how the two players could play in the same role in a 3-5-2 formation.

“The attitude of the wing backs greatly influences the balance of this system.

“I think that Hakimi, however, as a wing back is better than Chiesa because he is better in the defensive phase and at the same time, he guarantees goals and assists.”

The 21-year-old Hakimi, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2025, signed for the club from Real Madrid earlier this year, in a deal worth around €40 million.

He has started the season strongly under coach Antonio Conte, scoring one goal and providing two assists in his first three appearances. He is set to be an important piece of the puzzle for the 51-year-old Italian coach, with both his offensive and defensive capabilities impressive.

The 22-year-old Chiesa, who is contracted to the Bianconeri until 2022, has not yet made his debut for the Turin based club, after signing on the transfer deadline day earlier this week.

He had made three appearances for Fiorentina before the move in this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
