Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo’s agent Claudio Vigorelli discussed his sale from Inter to the Giallorossi in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio Radio yesterday.

“In my opinion at that time Inter had to do a certain kind of market operation, it was a precise dynamic. Two players, Santon and Zaniolo, entered the deal.

“Difficult to blame anyone. In that moment you had to be involved the negotiations to understand them.”

Zaniolo was sold by the Nerazzurri to Roma in the deal that saw Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan move to Milan in the summer of 2018. Whilst the young Italian quickly impressed in the Italian capital, the Belgian veteran struggled to impress and was sent out on loan to Cagliari after one season.

The 21-year-old Italian midfielder has been unlucky with injuries this year, suffering an ACL tear in January, before suffering another one last month. The first tear took 172 days to recover from, and now he is not expected to return for the Giallorossi in this calendar year.

Last season Zaniolo made 33 appearances across all competitions for the Roman side, for a total of 2006 minutes. In that time, he scored eight goals and provided three assists.
