Former Genoa sporting director Stefano Capozucca discussed the return of former Inter midfielder Borja Valero to Fiorentina in an interview with Italian media outlet FirenzeViola.it a few days ago.

“Borja Valero, as far as we can see, is a great professional, a player who has played several times in the current game and has always done well with Inter.

“He returned to Florence where he had had excellent results, he did well to choose this team and will make a good contribution.”

The 35-year-old Valero, who is contracted to the Viola until the end of the season, made 100 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri in his three years in the Lombardy capital.

In that time, he scored five goals but failed to find consistent playing time in his last season under coach Antonio Conte.

The player previously spent five years in Florence with Fiorentina, from 2012 to 2017. He found more success in purple, scoring 17 goals and providing 45 assists in 212 appearances. He has made two appearances since his return.

Last season for Inter, Valero made 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and being an important part of Conte’s squad in the post-lockdown period of games, where the midfield department was heavily worked.
