Former Inter director Ernesto Paolillo has urged Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta not to apply pressure on the ASL for the postponement of this weekend’s upcoming Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan.

Inter currently have six players who are COVID-19 positive whilst city rivals AC Milan are currently sitting on two COVID-19 positive players following the recovery of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the past few days.

Alessandro Bastoni, Milan Skriniar, Radja Nainggolan, Roberto Gagliardini, Ionut Andrei Radu and Ashley Young are Inter’s COVID-19 positive players whilst Matteo Gabbia and Leo Duarte are AC Milan’s.

As things stand, in order for a match to be postponed, 10 players on one single team must be COVID-19 positive before that team can request the postponement of their fixture.

“Beppe Marotta must not put pressure on the ASL in Milan, no one must try to push to postpone the match. Despite me being a profound Inter fan, having these players with COVID-19 is not enough to not play,” Paolillo explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Punto Nuovo earlier on today.

Inter versus AC Milan is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday October 17 with kick off scheduled for 18:00 local time.
