Alessio Romagnoli will partner Simon Kjaer at the heart of AC Milan’s defence in this coming weekend’s Derby della Madonnina against Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Rossoneri captain has not played whatsoever this season competitively due to an injury but got a chance to get some minutes in his legs yesterday as AC Milan’s first team played a friendly match against their Primavera team.

Romagnoli and Kjaer will play alongside each other in central defence, where AC Milan are really struggling for players given Matteo Musacchio is injured whilst Leo Duarte and Matteo Gabbia both have COVID-19.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to add that AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli will have Zlatan Ibrahimovic back available to him after his recovery from COVID-19.

Ante Rebic will be absent and as things stand Rafael Leao is favoured to start in his place over on loan Brahim Diaz.
