AC Milan coach Daniele Bonera has tested positive for COVID-19 following the latest round of testing carried out by the Rossoneri club, they have confirmed via an official statement posted on their official club website.

Bonera underwent a swab test at his home yesterday following a rising fever and that test has come back positive. The club have also confirmed that all of the other tests taken by the AC Milan squad and coaching staff have come back negative.

Bonera is one of three people currently at AC Milan who are positive for COVID-19 with the other two positive tests being returned by players Matteo Gabbia and Leo Duarte – both of whom are set to miss this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina against Inter.

Saturday’s opponents Inter currently have six players who are positive for COVID-19 in Alessandro Bastoni, Milan Skriniar, Ashley Young, Ionut Andrei Radu, Radja Nainggolan and Roberto Gagliardini.

Some reports in the media have however suggested that Inter could recover Bastoni in time for the derby.
