Former Lazio manager Delio Rossi has shared his belief that Goran Pandev has been undervalued throughout his playing career, which is now in its twilight years.
Rossi was in charge at Lazio for four of Pandev’s five years there and sang the Macedonian’s praises as he reflected on the veteran striker’s success with Inter in the late 2000s and how things are currently going for him at Genoa.
“I am pleased to talk about Goran. I saw him grow and I made him play at Lazio. Inter gave him to Lazio as an extra in the exchange for Stankovic, but this boy who came from Inter’s Primavera had quality and having done well everywhere, it means that he has values,” Rossi explained in an interview with Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
“He won the Treble with Inter, and it is a measure of his value, but he is also proving to be important for Genoa. He is very undervalued.”
Pandev first joined Inter in the Summer of 2001 and spent the next three years at the club before being moved on to Lazio in the manner as described above by Rossi.
Pandev then returned to Inter in 2009 after things went sour for him at Lazio and in his first season with the club he played a part in helping Inter to win a historic treble.
The 37-year-old made 69 appearances across all competitions during his spells with Inter, in which he scored eight goals and provided a total of 15 assists for his teammates.
