Italian national team manager Roberto Mancini is set to hand Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio a start in Italy’s upcoming UEFA Nations League clash with The Netherlands, according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
D’Ambrosio has played in neither of the games that Italy have played during the international break so far but that looks set to change tomorrow night when Italy play hosts to The Netherlands in Bergamo at the Gewiss Stadium.
D’Ambrosio will form 1/4 of the Italy defence which will also contain Leonardo Spinazzola, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini.
32-year-old D’Ambrosio may not be the only Inter player who starts. Nicolo Barella could be deployed in the midfield whilst Stefano Sensi could be an alternative to him.
Tomorrow night’s match will pit UEFA Nations League A group 1 leaders Italy against second placed Holland and the match is scheduled to kick off at 20:45 local time.
