Italian football journalist Fabrizio Biasin has shared his belief that the reason for Christian Eriksen not being a regular starter for Inter is simple.
Eriksen joined Inter in the most recent January transfer window in a circa €20 million deal from Tottenham Hotspur but has struggled to impose himself and perform as he was expected to by many.
The Danish national team attacking midfielder has found himself in and out of the team and has been tried in different roles but has continued to struggle despite Inter manager Antonio Conte trying his best to make things better for him.
“Why isn’t Eriksen a starter in Antonio Conte’s Inter? Because on the pitch he is anything but a Conte player and, then, the coach needs to understand and ‘digest’ him,” Biasin explained in his column for Italian daily newspaper Libero, which appeared in today’s print edition.
“We continue to think that he will succeed, perhaps starting from Saturday’s match, or rather in what is likely to become the strangest derby ever seen in Milan.”
Since joining Inter, Eriksen has made 28 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided a total of three assists for his teammates. He has made two appearances this term and has made no goal contributions.
