Inter Striker Romelu Lukaku: “Being A Bad Loser Is My Greatest Strength In Life”

Inter and Belgian national team striker Romelu Lukaku has shared his belief that being a bad loser is his greatest strength in his life.

“From my point of view, defeat is something that keeps me going because there you find a certain energy. I am a bad loser, I admit that, it is my greatest strength in life and we saw it in the Europa League final,” he explained in an interview with Belgian state broadcaster Rtbf, which was broadcast a short time ago.

He then spoke on his decision to not collect a runners-up medal after Inter’s Europa League final loss to Sevilla back in August.

“I couldn’t go get my medal. I have no regrets. It was not due to a lack of respect for Sevilla but put yourself in my shoes, you work all your life to get to a moment like this. In the final we lost in a 50-50 game but this episode gave me the energy to do better now, and I see the positive in the negative.”

Lukaku joined Inter in a club record €65 million transfer deal from Manchester United in the Summer of 2019 from Premier League club Manchester United.

The 27-year-old former Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion and Everton striker has been sensational for Inter in his time with the club with him having scored 37 goals in 54 appearances across all competitions to date.

This season Lukaku, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made three apparances across all competitions, in which he has scored a total of three goals.
