Inter Striker Romelu Lukaku: “I Don’t Care About Personal Records, I Prefer Team Victories”

Inter and Belgian national team striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed that he does not care for personal accolades and only cares about team successes.

The 27-year-old, whose most notable record on his CV is perhaps being the all-time top goalscorer for the Belgian national team, has dismissed the notion that he is a player obsessed with breaking records and making his own records.

“I’m not obsessed with records, it’s a cliché generated by the fact that I started playing very young. Everyone says that ‘Romelu loves to break records’,” he explained in an interview with Belgian state broadcaster Rtbf, which was broadcast a short time ago.

“They say this because I started early and was very consistent, but I don’t get up in the morning and type on Google, ‘Which record can I break?’ I don’t care, I prefer team victories.”

He then shared a trophy that he would like to win alongside his national team teammates: “I would like to win the Nations League with Belgium, it could help us a lot in view of the European championship.”

Lukaku joined Inter in the Summer of 2019 in a €65 million transfer deal from Premier League side Manchester United and had a stellar first season with Inter, with him scoring 34 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions.

He has started his second season in Nerazzurri in a prolific manner with him having scored three goals in as many games this season.
