Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen has admitted that whilst he is not playing much at club level these days compared to how much he is used to, it has not changed the excitement he feels when he represents the Danish national team.

Eriksen joined Inter in the most recent January transfer window from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur but has struggled to perform to expectations at the Nerazzurri club, who he is contracted to until the end of the 2023/24 season.

The 28-year-old was an almost certain starter in his time with both Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur but this is far from the case at Inter, where he more often than not starts on the bench.

“I’m happy to come back every time because I play here and I’m happy. Of course, as everyone knows, many things have changed,” he explained in the post-match press conference after Denmark’s 1-0 win over England, in which he scored the winning goal.

“I don’t play as much as I did at Tottenham, but nothing has changed. I’m excited when I come to national team, no matter which club I play in.”

Since joining Inter, Eriksen has made 28 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
