Noted Italian football journalist Mario Sconcerti has sang the praises of Inter central midfielder Nicolo Barella off the back of his performance for Italy against the Netherlands last night.

The highly rated midfielder received rave reviews in the media for his efforts in the 1-1 UEFA Nations League A group 1 draw which was played at Atalanta’s Gewiss Stadium.

“He’s a level above everyone else and he runs a lot. His continuous movement is not followed by the team, so it creates disorder,” Sconcerti explained in his column in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Barella joined Inter in the Summer of 2019 from fellow Serie A side Cagliari and had a stellar first campaign in the Nerazzurri squad, who came agonisingly close to winning both the Serie A title and the Europa League.

Since his arrival at the club, the 23-year-old, who is under contract until the end of the 2023/24 season, has made 44 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and tallied nine assists.

This season Barella has made three appearances to date and in his time on the park, which totals just over 200 minutes, he has tallied one assist.
