Borussia Dortmund and Denmark national team player Thomas Delaney has labelled national team teammate Christian Eriksen as his generation’s equivalent to legendary Danish national team player Michael Laudrup, who won the Balon d’Or two times during his illustrious playing career.

Eriksen made his 100th appearance for the Danish national team in last night’s 1-0 win over England, with him scoring the deciding goal from the penalty spot.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder is currently on the books of Inter, who he joined in a circa €20 million deal from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur back in the most recent January transfer window.

Since joining Inter, the former Ajax player has made 28 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided a total of three assists for his teammates. This season he has made two appearances but has made no goal contributions.

“It was a great day for the whole team, but especially for Christian and Simon who have reached the milestone of 100 appearances. I think Eriksen is for my generation what Laudrup was for the previous one,” Delaney has explained in an interview with European football’s governing body UEFA, as reported by FCInterNews.it.
