Legendary former AC Milan manager Carlo Ancelotti has shared his belief that whilst AC Milan are doing fine, Inter are a team who could put a stop to Juventus’ near decade long dominance of Serie A this season ahead of tomorrow evening’s Derby della Madonnina.

“AC Milan are doing well. Pioli and Maldini have done an exceptional job in the last six months. Inter have strengthened in the summer.

“They can disrupt Juventus’ hegemony. In general, I think this is most uncertain Serie A of the last decade,” current Everton boss Ancelotti told Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview which appeared in today’s print edition.

Ancelotti then went on to sing the praises of Inter striker Romelu Lukaku, who has scored three goals in as many games this season.

“Everyone speaks very well of him. I don’t know him, but a footballer with personality and character emerges from the pitch. He is a modern striker, beyond the goals, the enormous work he does for the team must be taken into account.”

He then spoke on growing up an Inter fan and how AC Milan were the club that ultimately changed his life.

“As a child I was an Interista because I was enchanted by Helenio Herrera’s squad. I was given a Sandro Mazzola shirt, in those days these things were a rarity. AC Milan is the club that marked my life. first as a player and then as a coach.”

61-year-old Ancelotti had a highly successful spell at AC Milan as a player and had a similarly as successful spell as their manager over an eight year period between 2001 and 2009, in which he won eight trophies, including the Champions League on two separate occasions.
