Inter captain Samir Handanovic discussed the Nerazzurri’s painful 2-1 derby loss to rivals AC Milan in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.

“I am not talking about bad luck, we had many chances, maybe we needed a bit more precision. We had our performance, even very good.

“Unfortunately, the match went the way it wasn’t supposed to, but now we have to turn the page and think about Wednesday. There is disappointment but we must not look back.”

The 35-year-old Slovenian shot stopper then commented on what positives the Nerazzurri should look to take from this game.

“What we have done in these games, we create a lot, we are very offensive. The negative things that we should not bring us is the imbalance and the goals conceded.

“We must be better at having balance and giving away less chances. They did not create much tonight but they have scored more than us. We must improve.”

Inter’s frustrating defeat to their inter-city rivals means that they are now in sixth place in the league, a slower start that coach Antonio Conte was initially hoping.

The Rossoneri, tonight’s winners, are now firmly at the top of the league table, sitting on 12 points. Atalanta are in second with nine, after losing in dramatic fashion to Napoli earlier today.

The Nerazzurri’s next game is against German side Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League next week, before they face Genoa on Saturday.

A win against the Bundesliga side is crucial should it come down to a potential fight for second in the group, considering they are also matched with Real Madrid.
