Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri discussed the Nerazzurri’s disappointing 2-1 derby loss to rivals AC Milan in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio 24 earlier today.

“I was lucky enough to be at San Siro for the derby, the environment was surreal with 79 thousand empty seats. At first it looked like a Thursday friendly.

“When AC Milan were attacking with Hakan Calhanoglu and their very fast wingers, Inter were put in trouble by his cross.”

He highlighted how Inter coach Antonio Conte managed to structure the team last year and must look to capitalize off that work this campaign.

“It must be said, however, that the Nerazzurri created much more than last year. Antonio Conte formed an important structure last year, this year should he close the work bringing home an important result like a trophy.

“There is a lot of pressure, but he has the experience to manage it.”

Finally, Ferri highlighted how new coach Andrea Pirlo also has high expectations with the Bianconeri. The Italian had never previously coached first team football before.

“A lot of pressure also for Andrea Pirlo who has to win the tenth league title.”

Inter’s loss means that they are currently sixth in the league table after four games, sitting on seven points. Rivals Juventus are just ahead of them in fifth place with eight points, after drawing 2-2 with Crotone yesterday.

AC Milan, who walked away derby winners yesterday, are top of the league table with 12 points, after having won their first four games of the season.

The Nerazzurri are now turning their attention to their next game, their Champions League opener against Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
