A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera has criticised Inter’s defense after their disappointing 2-1 derby loss to rivals AC Milan yesterday.

The report details how coach Antonio Conte’s squad doesn’t have balance, being incredibly attack heavy but seeming fragile in defense.

The Nerazzurri have already conceded eight goals in the first four games, an average of two a game, shocking compared to their defensive solidity last season.

Last campaign Inter had the second-best defense in the league, and after four games had only conceded once.

Whilst excuses can be made, such as the short pre-season or Covid-19 infections ruling out important players like Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar, Conte must still find solutions and fast.

Inter’s next game is against German side Borussia Dortmund in their opening Champions League fixture, a match that could be key for deciding who achieves second in the group, should Real Madrid storm to first.
