Italian football journalist Matteo Marani has shared his belief that Inter are lacking the typical balance that a side managed by Antonio Conte would possess off the back of the Milan derby this past weekend.

“Inter need balance, Inter does not have the typical balance of an Antonio Conte team. The year of the first Scudetto with Juve Conte conceded 20 goals, this year he has conceded almost half of that in four games,” he explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, earlier on today.

Marani then criticised Inter for their decision to allow experienced central defender Diego Godin leave the club during the Summer transfer window: “The defensive spare parts revealed difficulties, Inter could have been more careful not to send Diego Godin away or find an alternative.”

He proceeded to share his belief that despite fielding a weakened side against AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, Inter were not lacking in chances to win the game that the Rossoneri ended up winning 2-1.

“In a match with six very important absences, Inter still had many opportunities and could have drawn a match against a monster like Zlatan Ibrahimovic.”

In conclusion Marani went on to add that he feels that Inter’s return to European action, which will come this Wednesday at home to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League group stage, can revitalise for Italian national team boss Conte’s Inter.

“The bottle is half full, the strength of the team has not disappeared. Europe can revitalise them.”
