Inter’s decisions in the most recent transfer market and perhaps the choices made in previous years, are partly to blame for their start to the 2020/21 Serie A season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.

During the recent Summer transfer window, Inter opted to let experienced central defender Diego Godin depart for fellow Serie A club Cagliari. Without Godin’s departure though, Inter would have been unable to bring in Arturo Vidal.

Inter could have signed N’Golo Kante or Allan for some protection in the midfield whilst they could have signed Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso for left wing-back although the report states that it is no useless to look back and it is now down to Conte to put things right.

Inter have conceded eight goals in their opening four games this season, something surprising given Conte has built his teams on being defensively solid and the report concluded that Conte has not suddenly turned into a Zdenek Zeman follower.
