The match official assignments for this weeks Champions League group stage openers have been announced with Bjorn Kuipers assigned to referee Inter’s group B opener against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 47-year-old Dutchman, who primarily referees in the Eredivisie, the top flight in the Netherlands, has refereed five matches across all competitions to date this term, in which he has dished out 20 yellow cards and a single red card.

Last season Kuipers refereed Inter’s 2-1 Champions League group stage defeat to Barcelona at San Siro and this time round at San Siro he will be assisted by Sander van Roekel and Erwin Zeinstra. The fourth official will be Allard Lindhout.

Danny Makkelie has been assigned to take charge of VAR and Jan de Vries will be his assistant on Wednesday night for the match which is scheduled to kick off at 21:00 local time.

Inter also have Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League group.
