Inter club captain and number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has insisted that he and his teammates have to get over their Derby della Madonnina defeat this weekend.

“There was disappointment following the derby, but we have to reset immediately because there is little time,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which was broadcast a short time ago.

“We played well in the match against AC Milan, we just didn’t capitalise on what we created. I don’t see anything big to be concerned about, we have to go ahead. On Wednesday we have to look for another story.”

He was then asked if he had thought that he and his teammates would have made a better start to the campaign than the one they have had.

“This is football, every player hopes for the best but then there are also moments that go against or in your favour. I have faith in this team, when we improve in front of goal and have more balance we can only do well.”

Next the experienced Slovenian shot-stopper was quizzed on whether the abundance of goals Inter have conceded this early on in the season has angered him.

“We are more attacking this year, so it is normal that there is more risk of conceding when you attack a lot. Only from mistakes can we see how to correct things.

“I’m not worried because in any case we play well and create a lot. Obviously eight goals are a lot, I’ll be the happier when we concede less.”

Handanovic then addressed the Champions League group that Inter are in with Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Monchengladbach, who they will face off against tomorrow evening at San Siro.

“It will be a balanced group until the end, all the teams will play for qualification. Borussia are an experienced team, who have known each other for two to three years and know what they want.

“They run a lot and have quality in attack, like any team in Europe does. We have to think only of ourselves.”

In conclusion Handanovic was asked what the goals for the season are: “To pass the group stage and then fight to win something.”

The 36-year-old joined Inter back in the Summer of 2012 from fellow Serie A club Udinese and he has since went on to make 346 appearances across all competitions for the club, in which he has kept 122 clean sheets.
