Legendary former Inter captain Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has shared his belief that Inter could have changed the game in their favour in this past weekend’s Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan, who he believes are capable of going all the way and winning the Serie A title this term.

“It was a game that could have changed with or without Ibra, Inter had three or four chances to change the game in the second half,” he explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, yesterday.

“Can AC Milan win the title? Yes. Juventus is under construction and Inter can’t understand the team’s harmony. AC Milan have scored against all the great teams.”

The 1982 World Cup winner then went on to share his opinion on Inter’s Summer transfer window recruit Arturo Vidal.

“In my opinion he has to play more attacking and not in front of the defence, tactically it’s messy, if you play three midfielders then Brozovic has to play in front of the defence and he doesn’t have to move.”

In conclusion, Bergomi then went on to stress that Inter must resolve things as far as Christian Eriksen is concerned with the Dane continuing to struggle to perform to expectations at the club.

“Inter must resolve the misunderstanding, otherwise everyone is talking only about this. If someone deserves to play and is so strong then why doesn’t Conte let him play? Inter have already conceded eight goals which is a lot, but they were good at not clinging to alibis. They could blame the referee or the absentees and didn’t do it.”

Bergomi spent the entirety of is career with Inter and made no less than 758 appearances across all competitions for the club, an appearance tally bettered only by Javier Zanetti. In his time with the club, Bergomi won seven trophies.
