Italian Journalist Maurizio Pistocchi: “Inter Can’t Afford To Keep Christian Eriksen Out”

Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset journalist Maurizio Pistocchi has hit out at Inter manager Antonio Conte following Inter’s first defeat of the season which came at the hands of AC Milan in this past weekend’s Derby della Madonnina.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave AC Milan a 2-0 lead within the first 16 minutes of the encounter and whilst Romelu Lukaku did manage to pull one back for Inter, the Nerazzurri were unable to score any more and lost their first Milan derby in several seasons.

Kolarov is considered to be the one responsible for the defeat in the derby, but it cannot be blamed on an individual,” Pistocchi explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Punto Nuovo show ‘Punto Nuovo Sport Show’, earlier on this evening.

“Inter allow themselves to keep someone like Eriksen out. Conte is an ideologue, he has his own idea and keeps out the players who don’t reflect his idea.

“Today you can’t afford such a thing. You have Eriksen, you play him even if it makes you change your mind about football.”

Since joining Inter in the most recent January transfer window, Eriksen has very much struggled to perform to expectations but has certainly not been helped by his lack of game time. He has made 29 appearances, the majority of which have come as a substitute, in which he has scored four goals and tallied three assists.
