Alexis Sanchez is ahead of Lautaro Martinez in the running to start tonight against Borussia Monchengladbach according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Chilean national team player has recovered from his recent injury troubles and as a result of this, he is in with a shout of starting alongside Romelu Lukaku in the attack in tonight’s Champions League group stage opener against the German club.
If Sanchez does go on to start, the report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to highlight that he will share the field with compatriot Arturo Vidal, who will start in the midfield.
In Europe, Vidal is a player who rarely falters and his courageous and daring approach is needed when the margin for error is as small as it is in the Champions League. In the last eight seasons, no player has won more tackles in the Champions League than him. He has won 178 tackles and second place Marco Verratti is some 32 behind.
