Gazzetta dello Sport deputy director Andrea Di Caro has shared his belief that Inter are now discovering that Aleksandar Kolarov is not great at centre back.

The experienced Serbian national team was brought in for a nominal fee from fellow Serie A club Roma in the most recent Summer transfer window and he has been utilised by Inter manager Antonio Conte as a centre back in a three man defensive line.

Kolarov has left a lot to be desired with his performances thus far in a Nerazzurri shirt and was at fault for both of AC Milan’s goals in this past weekend’s Derby della Madonnina, which the Rossoneri won 2-1 thanks to a brace from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“When Kolarov plays as one of the three central defenders he has amnesia and causes penalties, his attackers always run away from him,” Di Caro explained with Italian football television show ‘Tiki Taka’, yesterday.

“He is a wing-back, in defence he often does damage and in Rome they know it well. Inter are now find that out now.”
