Inter manager Antonio Conte has revealed that he is expecting a good match against Borussia Monchengladbach in tonight’s Champions League group stage opener against them.

The match between the two sides is to take place at San Siro with kick off scheduled for 9pm local time. This match will be the first of two group stage meetings between the sides with the second meeting to come on match day five on December 1.

“When you finish in the top four of the German league it means that you have important values. They are prepared and I expect a good match,” he explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, which was broadcast late last night.

He was then asked if the Bundesliga experience of Arturo Vidal, Achraf Hakimi and Ivan Perisic can be helpful to the side for the match against Gladbach.

“Yes, they have had important experiences. Having said that, the experiences are all important but then you have to adapt to the reality you live in and the club in which you play for.

“I don’t think the fact that they played in the Bundesliga is so influential.”

In conclusion the former Italian national team boss, who is into his second year in charge at Inter, was asked about the importance of the seven game cycle until the next stop for international matches.

“We have to face game by game, knowing that there is no time to recover and trying to get the best results, going step by step.

“Now there is the Champions League, we know that in this month we will have the whole Champions League first round and league matches. We want to improve upon what we did last year ”.
