It is essential for Inter to get past the group stage in this year’s edition of the Champions League in order to pick up as much prize money as possible according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Inter, like every other club on the planet, have been financially impacted in recent months by the global COVID-19 pandemic and prize money earned in the Champions League could help Inter whose budget was severely impacted by COVID-19.

The Nerazzurri are to begin their Champions League campaign this evening at home to Bundesliga club Borussia Monchengladbach, with kick off at San Siro scheduled for 9pm local time.

Antonio Conte’s Nerazzurri side are in group B which also contains 13 time Champions League winners Real Madrid and Ukrainian powerhouses Shakhtar Donetsk, who Inter comfortably beat 5-0 on their way to last season’s Europa League final, which they lost 3-2 to Europa League experts Sevilla, who have won the competition a record six times.
