Inter owned Borussia Monchengladbach loanee Valentino Lazaro has revealed that he cannot wait for the home match against his parent club later on in the Champions League group stage.

“It will be a special match for me. I am back available and I feel good, but I’m not 100% yet and there will be no first match for me in Milan but I can’t wait for the return match against my Inter friends in Germany,” he explained in an interview with Italian news outlet FCInter1908.it.

He then went on to discuss how things are going for him at the Bundesliga club, who he joined on a season long loan from Inter in the Summer transfer window.

“I knew the league and the teams already. I am enthusiastic and I have great feelings about the team and the staff, we have a great work culture.”

He then spoke on the Milan derby and admitted that he sees the Nerazzurri as the favourites to take on Borussia Monchengladbach this evening at San Siro.

“Yes, I watched the derby and I think Inter will try everything to try to win against us. They are the favourites, but we will certainly do our best to be competitive.”

He was then asked whether Gladbach manager Marco Rose asked him for any tips on Inter and what he told him.

“Of course, the coach asked me about Conte’s style of play and some Inter players. I told him what I thought, but he knows about the quality that Inter have. It will be a tough match for our team.”

The Austrian national team player then went on to discuss the relationship that he has with Inter manager Antonio Conte.

“I have an excellent relationship with Conte and I hope that he and Inter will be able to triumph. In the summer we talked to Inter, but I needed to play more.

“After the stop due to the coronavirus in England they told me that being a player on loan they could not let me play a lot and from then on I played little. That’s why I talked to my agent and decided to start looking for a new loan.

“I want to go back to being a regular and play as much as possible in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. This is the only way I can show what I can really do and I am very determined to do it.”

In conclusion he was asked about the fact San Siro will be virtually empty for the match due to the Coronavirus pandemic and he also sent a message of support to his Inter teammates who have contracted the virus.

“It is very sad, but this is the situation in the world we are living in. For sure San Siro being empty is not the same thing, but we are happy to be able to play again. Everyone misses the fans. I have heard of the infections concerning my friends at Inter, I wish for them to recover as soon as possible.”
