Inter wing-back Matteo Darmian has sang the praises of Inter teammate Romelu Lukaku after his goals in yesterday evening’s Champions League group stage opener at home to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Lukaku opened the scoring for Inter shortly after the second half began with Darmian providing the assist for him. The Belgian national team striker also scored right at the death to rescue a draw for Antonio Conte’s side.

Lukaku has scored in Inter’s last nine games in a row in European competition with him having scored 10 goals in that time.

“Lukaku is a great person and a great forward. I have known him since we were teammates at Manchester United so I am perfectly aware of what kind of player he is.

He is scoring many goals, we hope he continues like this,” Darmian explained in an interview with European football’s governing body UEFA’s official broadcaster UEFA TV, following last night’s match.

Darmian made his Inter debut in last night’s encounter against the Bundesliga club and gave a good account of himself in his first outing in the Nerazzurri shirt.

The 36 time Italian national team representative joined Inter in a loan with obligation to buy deal from Parma at the end of the Summer transfer window.
