If Inter are still masters of their own destiny in the Champions League, they owe it to Real Madrid according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Inter drew their Champions League opener at home to Borussia Monchengladbach whilst Real Madrid surprisingly lost at home to Shakhtar Donetsk, who Inter take on next Tuesday on match day two of the Champions League group stage prior to a double header against Real Madrid.

Inter’s biggest fault against Gladbach was their failure to not capitalise on the start they made in the second half. The report goes on to explain that Inter continue to hurt themselves.

Inter had control in the game before Arturo Vidal fouled Marcus Thuram in the box which allowed Gladbach to get back into the game via a penalty.

They would then go on to score next and Inter were only rescued in the dying embers by Romelu Lukaku.
