Romelu Lukaku was Inter’s best performer in yesterday’s Champions League group stage opener at home to Borussia Monchengladbach according to the player ratings published in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Belgian national team striker scored both of Inter’s goals in the 2-2 draw against the German club and this was the ninth straight match in European competition that he has scored at least one goal in. He has been given a rating of 7.5.

Lautaro Martinez was Inter’s second best performer with a rating of 7/10 whilst Inter debutant Matteo Darmian was given the third best rating in the team of 6.5.

Danilo D’Ambrosio, Aleksandar Kolarov, Christian Eriksen, Marcelo Brozovic and Alessandro Bastoni were all meanwhile handed ratings of 6/10.

Nicolo Barella, Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Alexis Sanchez’s performances were all rated as 5.5/10 by the Milanese based news outlet. The worst performances came from Ivan Perisic and Arturo Vidal, who receieved half marks.
