Alexis Sanchez’s substitution at the half time interval in the Champions League group stage opener against Borussia Monchengladbach was down to injury, Inter have confirmed following the match.

The Chilean national team player came into the starting line-up in place of Lautaro Martinez to take on the Bundesliga outfit but was limited to just 45 minutes on the field due to him having a problem with his right adductor muscle.

The club have not given any details as to how serious the injury is and it now remains to be seen what the situation is when Sanchez has his condition examined.

Sanchez joined Inter on a season long loan deal from Manchester United in the Summer of 2019 and completed a permanent switch to Inter after the loan spell.

The former Barcelona and Arsenal star has made 37 appearances across all competitions to date for the club, in which he has scored four goals and tallied 12 assists.
