Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer has admitted that whilst he would have taken a draw with Inter prior to the game, he was annoyed that they drew with the Nerazzurri under the circumstances that they did.

The German club went behind to Inter shortly after the the second half got underway at Inter but Marco Rose’s men managed to restore parity around the hour mark as Ramy Bensebaini scored from the penalty spot.

Jonas Hofmann scored what looked to be a winner for Borussia Monchengladbach in the 84th minute of the game but Romelu Lukaku managed to rescue a draw for Inter in the final moments of the game at San Siro.

“We should have won this match. If someone had told me earlier that we would get a point, I would have signed up immediately but in this way it is different. It’s a shame. It ends up being very annoying,” Sommer explained in an interview with Borussia Monchengladbach’s official club website.

The Swiss national team shot-stopper proceeded to add: “The team did a great job. We fought, we had to run a lot and there were a lot of duels. It was intense. In the first half, however, we sometimes lacked courage. We drew 2-2 against a very good team. This gives us confidence.”

This season Sommer has made five appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has conceded eight goals and failed to keep any clean sheets.
