Inter manager Antonio Conte is still seeking the right set-up in the midfield according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Everything currently revolves around Summer transfer window addition Arturo Vidal and this is the heart of Inter’s current problem.

Conte had shown a real desire for N’Golo Kante to be signed but the Chelsea player was impossible to sign just like Thomas Partey and Inter never managed to find their manager a Kante-esque player.

Conte wanted more substance in front of the defence and as things stand none of the three midfielders who play have fixed positions. Whilst this is helpful in terms of making Inter unpredictable, it also creates confusion as it is not something easy to manage given the many absences.

The report goes on to explain that come the end of the season it will not be surprising to see Roberto Gagliardini with plenty of appearances. Although he is not the most eye-catching player, he is currently the only Inter midfielder with one goal and one assist this term.

The report goes on to conclude that Radja Nainggolan has trained well lately and could be of use to Inter off of the substitutes bench against Genoa and or Shakhtar Donetsk in the coming days.
