Italian Media Warn Inter Becoming Too Predictable If Only Relying On Romelu Lukaku

Inter have been heavily reliant on Romelu Lukaku and this was especially true in Wednesday night’s Champions League group stage opener with Borussia Monchengladbach according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Some 41 passes were made to Lukaku, nine more than the amount of passes sent in the direction of Alexis Sanchez and Lautaro Martinez combined. Nicolo Barella played eight of the passes in Lukaku’s direction and Lukaku found himself engaged in no less than 29 duels with Borussia Monchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi.

Whilst it is normal for teams to lean on a particular player and completely understandable why Lukaku is that man for Inter given how well he has played since joining the club, in the long run it only makes a team too predictable.

Lukaku has scored a sensational 40 goals in 56 appearances for the club, which is one less goal than he managed in 98 appearances at Anderlecht and two less than he managed in 96 appearances at Manchester United.
