Inter are a team who have been struggling in the Champions League in recent seasons according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
Since their return to the Champions League after a long absence in 2018/19, Inter have won just four of the 13 group stage games that they have played, with those victories coming against Tottenham Hotspur, PSV Eindhoven, Borussia Dortmund and Slavia Prague.
Inter have drawn four of the remaining nine and lost the other five matches. Whilst it is fair to say that draws have been far from kind for the Nerazzurri, who have always found themselves in ‘impossible’ groups.
With their draw against Borussia Monchengladbach in the opening match of this year’s group stage, Inter have immediately complicated life for themselves already. After Real Madrid’s shock loss to Shakhtar Donetsk, beating Gladbach became even more important for Inter but they failed to do so as they drew 2-2.
